Back to School

Madeline has become a Golden Lion! She is officially a pre-kindergartner and Matt and I were both a little sad on the first day of school thinking that next year Madi will be going to kindergarten. I think she grew almost 2 inches over the summer and we have gone through two shoes sizes since the spring. Madi is also 4 going on 14. Everything seems to be a battle of wills. Shoes, teeth brushing, what plate dinner is served on. I love my oldest child so much . . . but I would be totally ok with her moving into Grandma's house for a few months. Madi even locked herself in the playroom last night and refused to come out until I "thought about her feelings." Oh my god I was dying and super pissed all at the same time while trying to only show patience and care for Madeline's big feelings.

Cranky serious face. We've seen a lot of this lately.
Eleanor is talking up a storm. Most of her new words are food (of course). Apple, Egg, Pancake, Artichoke, Noodle, Bow Noodle, Raisins, Fig Bar, Cereal. She is also using "there you go" constantly. It is adorable. Ella is actually growing some hair and she likes to wear a teeny tiny pony on the top of her head. Ella is in a book phase right now. She loves to bring you books and listen while you read or help you read by supplying key words or sounds. Eleanor is also into kissing right now. She grabs your face and lays one on you regardless of what else you might be doing. She will give you a thousand kisses in bed while you are just praying she'll close her eyes and sleep . . .so cute buy so annoying. Ella has finally grown into other people holding her. She let Grandma Sue hold her while she babysat and let Cousin Heather hold her at the last Howe get together.

In the last three weeks I took a trip to Houston to see Robyn. What a nice weekend of traveling alone and being an adult! The girls stayed with Grandma Sue and Gramps while Matt and I went to a nice dinner to celebrate turning 35 and our 7th year of marriage (Thank you Grandma Sue)! We have had bbqs and football watching/swimming parties with friends. And of course . . . we have gotten back into our normal routine with mom going back to work every day. It's been a crazy September so far, I am a little scared to even consider what the girls are going to be like as the sun starts setting earlier and they go fall crazy! It'll be fun though, whatever happens!
